What to Bring

Check-in

All players must check-in. Check-in opens at 7:00 AM at both locations. Player's must check-in at the location where their division is scheduled to play no later than 30 minutes prior to their first scheduled game time. Players will receive the following at check-in:

  • Player bracelet (required to play)
  • Commemorative t-shirt
  • Swag Bag filled with swag items from Aspen Orthodontics, Squatty Potty, Sonic, and Papa John's Pizza

Locations

Bracket games are being held on the outdoor courts in two locations; Copper Sky and Pacana Park.

All championship games are being held in the indoor gym at Copper Sky Recreation Center. A membership to Copper Sky is NOT required for participants or spectators. The entire community is invited to come and watch the championship games.

Game Times

Games begin at 8:00 AM at both locations. A game will begin at the top and bottom of every hour until all bracket games have been completed. Games end after one team reaches 21 points or after 20 minutes of game play as described in the rules. The last bracket game starts at 4:30 PM. The first championship game starts at 6:00 PM at the indoor gym at Copper Sky. For more information about the Championship Games please see below.

Brackets

The official brackets will be posted at each location and will be kept current throughout the day. Teams are responsible for checking the official brackets for game times. Copies of the brackets are available for download in PDF format in the table below.

Rules

Players are responsible for reading, understanding, and following the rules. Game rules can be found here. Questions about the rules can be submitted via email to [email protected]. Questions about game play rules during a game will be addressed by a court monitor assigned to each court.

Concessions

Bring cash or a card and you won't go hungry! We've got great food at both locations.

Copper Sky
Rolling Smoke BBQ will be selling their entire menu at the event including chicken, brisket, pork, beans, slaw, and salads.
Helen's Kitchen will be selling funnel cakes and churros for dessert.
MHS Girls Softball will be selling snacks, sodas, Gatorade and water.

Pacana Park
The Maricopa Little League will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, chips, candy, snacks, and drinks from the concession stand.

Opening Ceremonies

Opening ceremonies will begin at 5:00 PM in the Copper Sky indoor gymnasium. We invite and encourage all teams to participate and to cheer on the team's participating in the championship games.

3-point Shoot-out @ 5:00 PM
Players can enter a 3-point shoot-out starting at 5PM. Winners will receive prizes.

Presenting of the Colors and National Anthem @ 5:30 PM
The MHS ROTC will be presenting the colors. Local recording star, Ms. Laura Walsh, will be singing the National Anthem.

50/50 Drawing @ 5:45 PM
The winner of the 50/50 drawing will be announced. You must be present to win.

Championship Games

The Championship Games for all divisions are being played at Copper Sky's indoor gym starting at 6:00 PM. The Championship Games are being officiated by celebrity referees including:

  • Maricopa Chief of Policy - Steve Stahl
  • Miss City of Maricopa - Auna Littlejohn
  • MHS Varsity High School Coach - Chris McDonald
  • MHS JV High School Coach - Andrew Anderson

Awards will be presented at an awards ceremony immediately after the final championship game.

Awards

First, second and third place teams will receive an award. The first and second place teams will receive their trophies and medallions in the award ceremony following the final championship game has completed. Third place teams will receive their medallions at the end of their final game.

First Place: 24" team trophy and gold medallions for each player
Second Place: Silver medallions for each player
Third Place: Bronze medallions for each player

What To Bring

Maricopa March Madness is an all-day tournament starting at 8AM. We encourage parents, players and fans to join us at all of the events including the 3-point shoot-out and the championship activities at the end of the tournament. Come prepared for a long day. Here are some of the items you may consider as you prepare for the event:

  • Skillz, bring your mad ballin' skillz
  • A good attitude! This is a FUN tournament.
  • Sunscreen, lot's of sunscreen
  • A hat or even a canopy to setup and stay cool between games
  • Water, water, and more water
  • Money for food, snacks, and extra water
  • Money for the 50/50 raffle
  • Basketball (optional, we will provide an outdoor ball at each court)
  • Good court shoes to keep your feet healthy and happy.
